The Worst Marijuana Dispensaries In Phoenix

By Stewart Stokes

Marijuana is also known by several other names including cannabis. It refers to a preparation of the cannabis plant which is meant to be used as a psychoactive medicine or drug. The plant from which this preparation is derived is called cannabis sativa and it contains 483 known compounds. The main psychoactive part of all the compounds is known as tetrahydrocannabinol, often abbreviated as THC. There are many marijuana dispensaries in Phoenix one can get the compound from.

Cannabis contains more than 65 other cannabinoids besides tetrahydrocannabinol. Consumption of this product is done in many different ways including vaporization, smoking, and eating in different forms. Smoking is mostly done in the form of hand-rolled cigarettes in pipes. It is also common to see people filling emptied cigars with the drug and smoking from the cigars.

Compared to other methods, vaporization as a method of consumption is relatively new. This method is meant to prevent one from inhaling smoke. The process entails the use of devices known as vaporizers to pull active ingredients from the plant and collecting the vapor extracted in a storage unit. The vapor is then inhaled eliminating the need for smoking. Consumption can also be done by mixing cannabis in various foods such as candy, cookies, tea, and brownies.

People have different reasons for using cannabis. Mostly, the reasons are recreational or medicinal. Some use it for religious or spiritual reasons. According to statistics, between 2.7 and 4.9 percent of the people in the world aged between 15 and 65 used cannabis in the year 2013. Conversely, in the United States alone, over 43 percent of the people used it with a major increase in 2016 to 51 percent.

In the US, estimations show that the drug is consumed by a minimum of 1 person out of every 3 people. Both on a global scale and the US, the most commonly consumed illegal substance is cannabis. Its history is a long one dating back to the 3rd millennium. Restrictions have been placed by several countries on its consumption. That makes it illegal for its possession, sale, and use without medical prescription from a qualified medical practitioner.

From a medical perspective, cannabis is used for its physical and mental effects including heightened mood, increase in appetite, and general change in perception. The substance is used for the treatment or management of several medical conditions. For instance, it is used for the reduction of nausea and vomiting in chemotherapy, improvement of appetite in HIV/AIDS patients, and for the treatment of chronic pain. It is also helpful with muscle spasms.

There are several short-term effects associated with cannabis. The most common ones include dry mouth, decreased short-term memory, red eyes, anxiety, paranoia, and impaired motor skills among others. Short term effects take variable amounts of time to show depending on the mode of consumption. In the long term, users are prone to addiction, reduced mental ability, and behavioral problems among children.

There have been protests against legalization of cannabis in the US. As such, some states have legalized its use for medicinal and recreational purposes alone. One major concern is that major aspects of the drug including production are not regulated.
