Whether you prefer turmeric over ginger or the other way around, it doesn't matter at all. Both of them are proven effective for inflammation and pain. Actually, there are plenty of topical creams and gels for arthritis that contain chemicals obtained from ginger and turmeric. In the case of ginger, it's called gingerol. On the other hand, it's capsaicin for turmeric. Both gingerol and capsaicin are practically the same chemicals, so both of them can impress. In other words, it doesn't really matter which one you prefer.

If these popular culinary spices can be found in your kitchen, you should not worry too much about joint pain and swelling.

If you want to take advantage of the pain and inflammation relieving properties of ginger, all you have to do is turn it into a cup of tea. Such is done by grating a small piece of fresh ginger root. Place a teaspoon of it in a cup of hot water and allow 4 to 5 minutes to pass. Afterwards, carefully remove the grated ginger root using a teaspoon. You may add a teaspoon of honey or freshly squeezed lemon juice to your freshly brewed cup of ginger tea.

Several times in a day, you may simply suck on a tiny piece of fresh ginger root. Allow your saliva to come into contact with it each time. Following this tip helps ensure that the affected joints are constantly supplied with gingerol, thus eliminating the need for you to heavily rely on OTC painkillers.

It's really easy to get your hands on powdered turmeric at the supermarket. Compared to fresh ginger root, it's something that's easier to brew into an herbal tea. Dissolve a teaspoon of powdered turmeric in a cup of hot water and consume right away. Again, you may add a teaspoon of lemon juice or honey to your freshly brewed herbal tea.

It's also possible to turn turmeric into a topical solution for arthritis. Add one drop of water to a small amount of it at a time until you come up with a paste. Massage the paste on the affected joint and leave it there to dry. This home remedy may be performed up to 3 times a day for best results.
