Important Information On Northwest Indiana Liposuction

By Kathleen Snyder

Liposuction essentially is a procedure, which slims and reshapes body parts by removing the excess deposits of fats, therefore improving the contours and proportion of the body. The techniques may be used in reducing localized fat deposits from various parts of the body like the abdomen, waist, thighs, back, hips, buttocks and upper arms. Other regions like the chest, cheeks, chin, and neck. Northwest Indiana liposuction is a technique that can be solely used or combined with other plastic surgery treatments.

This procedure entails the removal of fats by suction. Thin, small, bunt-tipped cannulas are inserted in the body of a patient after tiny incisions are made on the skin. The physician then suctions the fats using tubes below the skin. With the advancements in technology, better techniques have eased the procedures making them safe and less painful.

Various techniques may be used during a liposuction procedure. Tumescent is one such procedure. In this case, a local anesthetic is used to numb the area where the tubes would be inserted. Then, more solution with anesthetic is injected in the fatty tissue before the procedure. The solution contains epinephrine and lidocaine. At the same time, a general anesthesia may not be used in this technique.

Other techniques that can be used are laser and ultrasound assisted liposuction. With the ultrasound-assisted technique, fat is liquefied with the ultrasound which makes it easier to remove. The technique is usually suitable for removing fat from back, sides, and upper abdomen. On the other hand, the laser technique uses low-energy waves to liquefy fat which is then removed using small tubes. Normally, this procedure is outpatient, and the patient is not required to stay overnight in the hospital unless large volume of fat is being removed. If large volumes of fat are removed, your doctor may use a deep sedation with a local anesthesia or a general anesthetic.

After the procedure, the point where fat was removed is wrapped firmly to protect it from bruising, swelling, and pain. The doctor may use elastic bandages and tape, a special girdle, support hose, and other firm-filling garments. You may also be required to wear the wrap for about 3-4 weeks. Also, bruising and swelling may be experienced during the first 7-10 days after the procedure.

Patients in most cases can get up and walk soon as the influence of sedatives fades away with the procedure being finished. Patients can as well restart their routine activities whenever they feel comfortable, but generally, this can take a number of days. The recovery process may be longer, particularly when wider areas are involved.

In most cases, this treatment is used with an aim of reshaping a number of areas of the body. However, it does not cut down the body weight of a patient. It is commonly applied to the specific areas, which show no response to diet and even exercise.

This procedure is proven as an effective way of reducing fats in smaller areas. Immediately after the procedure, improvement in the body outline can be seen. Nonetheless, when one puts on weight after this procedure, as previously, the fatty bulges can come back or rather appear on different areas.
