Potential Clients Learn Seattle Chiropractic Office Alleviates Pain From Spinal Disc Bulges Without Surgery

By Kelly Blomquist

The prominent reasons chiropractic intervention is attractive to those with back problems are, it does not rely on medication and it is a non-invasive method of care. No one wants to risk addiction. No one is eager to consider surgery except as a last resort. Those who are in pain can turn to Seattle Chiropractic for the most appropriate care.

Prior to any care being offered, the client must undergo a full evaluation. A first appointment is spent on a physical examination of your spinal column, including palpating it. You may be asked to exhibit your range of motion. You may be required to have an x-ray, and in some cases an MRI.

There are thirty-three bones in the spinal column called vertebrae. They are hollow and the spinal cord runs through them. All the nerve roots lie there. The discs that separate the vertebrae are made of a fibrous outer shell and filled with a gel-like material. They keep the bones from rubbing together as you move.

When the vertebrae are jarred out of their correct position the discs can be compressed. That causes them to impact the nerve roots. The pain might be excruciating. The chiropractor has the job of relieving that compression.

If the results of the assessment reveal a herniated disc, manual adjustments of the vertebrae will be recommended. A series of adjustments will gradually return them to the right position. When the pressure is lifted the disc is able to heal.

Terms like ruptured disc, bulging disc and slipped disc are used to describe the same condition. All these refer to the herniated disc. That is the correct medical term. Chiropractic care focuses on the spine and nervous system. When herniated, a disc can prevent nerve signals from being transmitted to all parts of your body.

As you move, the intervertebral discs prevent the vertebrae from grinding against each other. A realignment of the vertebrae will, over time, reduce the pressure. That, in turn, will reduce the pain that is interfering with the activities you previously enjoyed.
